“Depths of Solitude” captures a figure partially submerged in luminous green waters, their profile turned in quiet reflection as the water envelops her. The painting draws inspiration from T. Alexander Harrison’s ” La Solitude” (c. 1893). Like “La Solitude” it explores the boundary between human figure and natural element, transforming a moment of physical immersion into a meditation on solitude and self-reflection. Drawing from Harrison’s atmospheric water studies, there is a restricted palette of deep greens and blues, creating an interplay of light and shadow across the water’s surface.
